'Finding and Honing Your Artistic Voice'
'Finding and Honing Your Artistic Voice' is a 10-workshop course, spread over ten weeks. Classes will be held via zoom, and each batch will be personally facilitated and mentored by me. This is a course for artists and hobbyists working in any creative medium of their choice, for beginners who would like to find out what they love doing or even advanced practitioners who would like to gain a better understanding of their art practice, of why they do what they do, and what is the legacy they would like to leave behind with their life.
I am a multidisciplinary artist working with performance art, painting, writing, storytelling, video art, photography, and mixed media. I have a bachelor's degree in fine art from National Art School, Sydney, Australia, a bachelor's degree in mass media and mass communication from IP College, Delhi University, as well as a DELF B1 Diploma in French. I have had many solo and group exhibitions, as well as solo and collaborative performances, in India and Australia, and my work is held in public and private collections in India, Australia, UK, USA, France, and Dubai. To know more about my artistic philosophy and outlook, as well as for a list of exhibitions, grants and awards, please visit my about page.
Where does the inspiration for this workshop come from? Well, before I could officially call myself a professional, full-time artist, I had been on a long journey of finding myself. Creating, making things with my hands, coming up with a lot of ideas - these things came easy to me even as a child, and I spent my childhood in a very creative way. However, to realise that I had to be an artist even as an adult - that any other way to be was not possible for me and would at once be suffocating for me, is something that took a long journey to find out.
I worked as a copywriter (writer for advertising) will well known advertising agencies, such as O&M, Mumbai or Iris, Gurgaon. I worked as the casting director of the internationally acclaimed, National Award-winning feature film, Ship of Theseus. However, I was truly at peace only when I quit my jobs to become an independent artist and creative educator.
I now bring to you the course, 'Finding and Honing Your Artistic Voice'. As someone who has myself gone through the process of finding out who I truly am, and working out a way to be that person no matter what the world or society says, as a woman who has learnt how to stop shrinking in order to achieve the goals she believes in, I have learnt a thing or two about creating a life that is a work of art in itself. And through this course, I would like to take you on an introspective journey, where you can find out better and more fulfilling ways of leading your own best creative life.
